Single dental implants are a type of dental restoration used to replace one or two missing teeth. The implant consists of a small, biocompatible titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as a replacement for the tooth's root. The post integrates with the bone over time through a process called osseointegration, which allows the implant to provide a stable and secure foundation for a dental crown to be placed on top.
Single dental implants offer a number of benefits, including improved oral function, a more natural appearance, and long-lasting durability. With proper care and maintenance, a single dental implant can last for many years and help to restore your confidence in your smile.
Nev Jeyakumar - BDS (hons) PGDip Dental Implantology
Meet Nev, our implant dentist at Foxley Lane Dental with a passion for helping patients restore their smiles and confidence.
When carrying out his treatments, Nev leverages years of training and experience, including his Honours degree from King's College London Dental Institute and hands-on work in various practices. Additionally, Nev's expertise in implant placement is backed by his postgraduate dental implantology training at the University of Bristol, working alongside leading dental implant surgeons.
With a calm and friendly approach, Nev aims to make every patient feel comfortable and highly informed before any treatment is carried out, so you can visit our practice knowing you're in the safest hands.
The process for dental implants typically takes one to two hours per session and takes place over two to three visits to our Purley practice, depending on the complexity of your case and how fast your implants heal.
The first step is to schedule a free consultation with us to discuss your options for tooth replacement and determine if single or multiple dental implants are a good solution for you.
We'll precisely plan your custom treatment with our CBCT scanner, then your dentist will surgically place the titanium post into the jawbone, which is typically done under local anaesthesia to ensure that you’re comfortable during the procedure.
After we’ve placed the implant, the surrounding bone will gradually grow and fuse with the implant through a process called osseointegration, which typically takes several months.
Once your implant has healed, your dentist will place an abutment onto the implant post, which is a small connector piece that will eventually attach the dental crown or restoration to the implant.
Finally, the dental crown will be attached to the abutment. The crown is custom-made to match the size, shape, and colour of your surrounding teeth and is designed to blend in seamlessly with your natural smile.
At Foxley Lane Dental, we're proud to offer the leading-edge CBCT scanner, the latest in implant treatment technology and for a limited time only we're including this in your implant package, usually additionally charged at £125.
The CBCT scanner allows us to take detailed, 3D images of your mouth and jaw, enabling us to accurately plan and execute your implant treatment with unmatched precision.
Being the only practice in the area to offer this technology, we're confident that you'll see the benefits of this advanced tool in your beautifully restored smile.

Dental implants are designed to be a long-lasting solution for tooth replacement. With proper care and maintenance, they can last for many years, even a lifetime, depending on factors such as oral hygiene habits, diet, and your overall health.
The dental implant procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia, so you should not experience any pain during the treatment. Afterwards, some people experience mild discomfort or soreness, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications.
Most people who are in good health and have enough bone density in their jaw are good candidates for dental implants. However, certain medical conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes or active gum disease, may make implant placement more difficult. Our experienced dentists will evaluate your specific situation to determine if dental implants are a good option for you.
To care for your dental implants, you should practice good oral hygiene habits such as brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and using an antiseptic mouthwash. You should also avoid biting down on hard objects and try to limit eating and drinking sugary and acidic foods and beverages. We also recommend regular dental check-ups and dental hygiene treatments to maintain the health of your implants and surrounding teeth and gums.
Yes, dental implants can be used to replace one or more missing teeth, depending on your needs. In some cases, multiple dental implants may be used to support a dental bridge or denture to replace multiple missing teeth, but we’ll help to determine the best treatment plan for your specific situation.
